Touch Book Parties
Lending a Helping Hand
Our
first
Touch Book Party to benefit the Board of Education and Services for the Blind
(BESB), was a great success! Thanks to all who donated their time and supplies.

We
created
many books that will help visually-impaired children learn pre-braille skills.
"I
was lucky enough to get some very creative people to volunteer their time and
many of the supplies we used to create the books," said Pierce.
It was
a great time and supports a very worthy cause. Many people want to help, but don't
know where to begin. This was a fun way to provide for an often-overlooked segment
of the community: visually impaired children. These children need to build reading
skills in a very different way from fully-sighted children. Touch Books help them
learn sensitivity in their fingertips to prepare them for braille reading.
